Willie Nelson will make a special appearance at The Club, in the Cannery Casino & Hotel, on Saturday, September 11, at 8 p.m.  A country singing legend, known as a musical outlaw, Willie’s talents reach beyond singing.  He is also a songwriter, performer, actor, and social activist. 

American icon Willie Nelson has recorded 81 studio albums released 97 singles and crafted 22 number one records in his history as one of the top musicians in America. Famous for smash hits like “On the Road Again,” “Crazy,” “Always On My Mind,” “Blue Skies,” “If You’ve Got the Money I’ve Got the Time” and “Nothing I Can Do About It Now,” the eight-time Country Music Award and 10-time Grammy Award-winning star has been a household name for almost six decades. His musical collaborations include work with Waylon Jennings, Dolly Parton, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Ray Charles, Kenny Chesney and Johnny Cash.
 
Willie Nelson has scored 10 platinum albums and been the subject of four books. In addition, his time with country super group, the Highwaymen, added another platinum album and number one record to his impressive list of accomplishments. Nelson is well known for his political activism and has appeared in 32 major motion pictures, including lead roles in Honeysuckle Rose (1980), Red Headed Stranger (1986), Wag the Dog (1997) and Dukes of Hazzard (2005).

Friday Fight Night 

Crown Theater & Nightclub, inside the Rio All- Suite Hotel & Casino, will present Friday Night Fights boxing matches starting the Labor Day weekend.  They transfer from boxing into their exciting night club after the fights.  Crown Boxing, known for presenting exciting, competitive fights, opens with UNLV’s Henry Namauu winner of the bout with Holyfield/Botha undercard,   featherweight Rocco Santamauro, and a female bout between Crystal Hoy from the Philippines (described as the female Manny Pacquiao) and Mandy LaPointe.  All tickets are currently on sale and available at www.ticketmaster.com, via www.thecrownvegas.com or by calling the Rio Box Office at 1-888-746-7784. America’s Best

In the September issue of Food Network Magazine, Las Vegas was included in the Top 10 Comfort Foods, Destinations, Regional Classics and Sweets in the US.  Food Network Magazine searched for the best eats in America.  After investigating thousands of great restaurants, food trucks, bistros, and bars, the magazine divides the list into four categories: comfort foods, destinations, regional classics and sweets. After a heated debate, the magazine narrowed each list to 10.  The winners will be revealed in four Food Network specials of America’s Best, hosted by Alton Brown from Tuesday, September 20 through Thursday, September 23, at 9 pm.  Las Vegas Best was chosen for their MASHED POTATOES, yes MASHED POTATOES, at L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, and as the Best Showstopper , at Switch Steak, Las Vegas

Price is Right

 Autograph Signing

Parallel, inside Miracle Mile Shops, hosts an autograph signing session with America’s Next Top Model winner Krista White 1 – 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15. Recycled Percussion

I saw their show when they were contestants on America’s Got Talent and enjoyed Recycled Percussion’s unique style.  The group will appear in Studio 54, at MGM Grand, beginning Monday, August 30 with an interactive twist never experienced before in Las Vegas.  Formed in 1994 in New Hampshire at their High School talent show, Recycled Percussion’s first performance gave birth to the style of music now known as JUNK ROCK.  This small-town band has built their show into one of the more powerful live performances in entertainment.  During every show, the band mixes their gritty assault on buckets, power tools or anything else they can get their sticks on with a sense of humor and gravity defying athleticism. Now Recycled Percussion pushes the limits again with a revolutionary concept and hopes to set the bar for how shows are performed in Las Vegas. Upon entering Studio 54, show goers will immediately become a part of the performance as they are handed an instrument and a pair of drumsticks allowing them to become the 5^th member of the band.  Encouraged to play on anything from car parts to random items found around the house(their instrument of choice), guests will be called upon throughout the show and each audience member will be able to show their percussion skills along with the band.
