I had not heard of Perry Danos when he made his Las Vegas debut but after seeing him, now I am sure he will be coming back.

Perry chose just the right songs: most everyone’s favorites from the classic oldies, to the sound of Motown soul and the blues.

Opening on the upbeat with “Get Ready for Love,” he moved quickly into each song.  The audience seemed to like him, especially the sequence dedicated to some of the greatest artists in show biz.  I enjoyed the personal touches when Perry spoke about his family, and he interacted with the audience as well.

During one touching number, Sammy Davis, Jr. sang on the video while Perry joined him in a duet on the stage.  Still showing the stars as he sang their songs, Perry sang Dean Martin’s “Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime,” Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon,” and other dedications.  Some of his other numbers included “Beyond the Sea,” “Smile,” “The Good Life,” “Swinging on the Moon,” “Whole Lot of Littles,” “Lonely Teardrops,” “All in Love is Fair,” “Some Days You Just Gotta’ Dance,” “Temptation Eyes,”   “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” “America  the Beautiful,” “Burnin’ Love,” “All My Lovin’,” and too many more to mention. Perry is excited about his new CD “Swingin’ on the Moon,” a combination of songs by the people who influenced him- Sam Cooke, Patsy Cline, Elvis, Rod Stewart, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, and the Beatles.

Perry explains, “This is not a new twist.  I’m not reinventing the standards; I’m just adding my brand to the translation. This CD is the spirit of music and I hope it just reaches out and touches people.”

You can tell by his show, Perry loves classic old time music. “Standards have some of the all-time greatest lyrics and melodies. I’m inspired by the music of yesteryear- its depth and natural artistry.” His choice of singing“Somewhere Over the Rainbow” brought challenges because  it was recorded over 1,000 times by numerous artists, but Perry made it different! An accomplished and versatile live performer,Perry has worked with Donna Summer, Raul Malo, Wayne Newton, The Four Tops, Martina McBride, Leon Russell, Eddie Rabbit, Charlie Daniels, Three Dog Night, and the Pat Patrick Orchestra & Show Band.

Although he was not a country western singer, Perry decided to move to Nashville.  The local spots kept him busy around town and in music videos for country stars Shania Twain, Randy Travis and Gretchen Wilson.  Perry can be seen in national television commercials for Toyota, Coke, Southwest Airlines, Kodak, Ford, Disney, Wendy’s, Coors, and Budweiser.   He advises aspiring entertainers: “It is not easy, but it is not impossible.  There are many facets in this business to enable you to be part of it and be successful.”

After the show, there was a VIP Press party backstage.  Perry appeared at the Orleans Hotel for a two-night engagement.  For information about Perry Danos, see thesewebsites:   www.grandvistamusic.com  www.perrydanos.com

Perry Danos is an extremely talented vocalist and all-around musician. Not only that, but he is a helluva nice fella who has paid his dues and is finally beginning to get some of the recognition for which he has worked so hard. Make his cds part of your collection and only then... can you say that collection is complete.

If you love swing, jazz and ballads, Perry danos is a must hear. Torme, Sinatra, Bennet, Martin all come to mind but he also swings with country.

He needs more fans so we can hear more albums by him.
